From where do you get the fruits and vegetables?

We do not grow these ourselves; we do not live on a farm. We order from the same places as the grocery stores. We get fruits and vegetables directly from farms and from distributors we trust.  We choose our produce based upon price, quality and selection. We like to order locally from organic Florida farms whenever possible, or as close to Florida as possible.  However, certain farms, Cal Organic Farms, for example, always supply the most gorgeous produce and quality is important to us so we may choose a farm that is further away over another because of known quality.  There is beautiful produce around the country and around the world including from Peru, Argentina, New Zealand, Zambia, and Central America.  Oftentimes we will list the origin in the detail sheet but if you ever have a question as to where something is from, please ask and we’ll let you know.

How do I know which items are organic and which might not be organic?

We offer organic and environmentally sound options.  We work hard to find the best products and options available, the best prices on those products, and we make an effort to choose organic.  All produce is ORGANIC.  We have it labeled as such.  If you find one that is not labeled organic, please ask about it as we may have forgotten to add it to that item.  We feel choosing organic options is very important.  Sometimes we cannot get certain items organic.  Young Thai Coconuts are not organic unless labeled otherwise, it is just difficult to get that organic at a fair price.  Some sprouts may be hydroponically grown if we can't get organic and we will state that on the order form.  The fish is Wild, not technically organic, but we think wild is a better option for our environment and our bodies.  The beef is grass-fed under organic standards as well as the certified organic grassfed beef we carry.  Every farm or company is either certified organic or is working under organic guidelines; we choose the best option available for that particular product.

I see this is a better selection of organic produce and the prices are great, but what do you mean by better quality?

We order from the same distributors as the grocery stores. The names you’ll see on the labels include Cal Organic Farms, Driscoll, Lady Moon and other respected names. All in all, it is the same as the grocery store. The quality is better because you get it fresher! It doesn’t sit on a store shelf out in the open. It isn’t waiting to be purchased in an open refrigerator or in a stack of other produce piled high. It hasn’t been poked or squeezed or smelled or dropped on the floor (I keep anything I accidentally drop myself.) The quality is better because it is exactly what you ordered and it is getting to you as soon after being picked off the farm as humanly possible. And, as an extra bonus, since it gets to you faster, it therefore keeps longer too! Enjoy!

How does this work? What is this?

As many of our customers that have lived in California or up north have told us, we have the feel of a coop or buying club.  We are a delivery service.  We offer the luxury of delivery at reasonable prices of the best selection of organic produce available.  We also offer pick up options and coop boxes so we should have something to fit your needs.

We order much like a co-op or buying club in that most of our inventory is based upon preorders. That allows us to keep our prices low, like a co-op. Actually, I did considerable research and found our prices to be lower than co-ops overall. Unlike co-ops, however, we do not have to wait for a box to be completely sold before we purchase it.  And you, as the consumer, don’t have to put in any “time” – just order!

We make every effort to get your items to you the same day that we take delivery; this is unheard of in this industry.  No one has ever attempted to get the produce out to the consumers the same day it is received.  Even in the grocery stores, produce is held in the back until the older produce is sold.  And some farmer's markets sell what's "left over" from the week.

We make it convenient and easy for you to order from a great selection of quality organic produce at a reasonable cost.

Most other providers of produce delivery dictate what will be in your order – you pick a size box and they fill it with the produce available at the time. They don’t offer the prices but rather a package all or nothing choice. Though this might be fun to see what is in the box each week, I don’t personally like it because I want to know that I’m getting more of the things my family likes to eat – if I want 12 apples, why should I only get 3?  And I don’t want to have to run out to the store for a lemon if it wasn’t in the box and I need it for something that week.  Delicious Organics allows you to choose how much and what you want of each item. The prices allow you to comparison shop. In that regard, we hope you will always keep us apprised of competitive prices of similar products, both organic and non-organic. We may need to clarify the quality and size in order to explain a price differential and your information will be helpful to all the members in understanding the differences.

Why is this better than grocery shopping myself at the local store?

Our goal is to always provide better quality, better selection, better service, and the freshest organic produce and more, at very fair prices.  Save time, money and frustration of shopping in the local grocery store because:
  • our produce is so much fresher than the local stores, it lasts longer and tastes better!
  • no one has dropped, prodded, poked, or squeezed any of the fruits and vegetables before you get them, unlike in the grocery stores (even if you are the first one in the regular grocery store, you don't know if the produce was dropped, with us, if it drops, it goes into our "drop" box which we either allow our employees to choose from or we donate it to local homeless shelters.)
  • our produce prices are substantially below retail, most average 20% below retail!
  • our non-produce items are about 10% below retail.
  • our selection is so wonderful, you only have to shop at one store instead of spending valuable time shopping at several stores for everything you need.  And if we don't stock what you want, let us know and we'll look into adding it for you!
  • our online shopping experience is easy and once you learn your way around the store, fast!
  • you can review recipes, check your cupboard and refrigerator, and always make sure to order everything you need and not something you don't need more of.  We have all bought something at the store, again, only to find when we get home that we have three of them already!  And how many times have we gotten home from the grocery store only to find that we've forgotten something we need for a recipe and so we have to go back to the store yet again!  With online shopping, you can check your recipes, your freezer, your cupboard, your fridge, you can make sure not to order something you have and you can make sure to order what you need.
  • our shopping cart allows you to see an estimated total to keep you on budget.  Remember that is only an estimate and may be a little higher or lower for per pound items.  (If you choose one "each" for peppers, the estimate will look like one pound but we will weigh one pepper and your total will be lower; if you choose one chicken, the estimate may look like one pound but we will weigh one bird and your total will be a little higher.)
  • Delicious Organics delivers to your door and unpacks your coolers for you!  This saves you time, money, and frustration of grocery shopping in
    • driving to the store,
    • finding a parking space,
    • shopping and sorting through all the fruit and vegetables that others have already sorted through,
    • reading all the labels (whilst a child or fussy companion is getting cranky),
    • impulse buys and "on sale" items that you didn't really need or want but somehow find themselves in your cart (sometimes simply to pacify your shopping buddy),
    • inevitably choosing the wrong (longer) line,
    • remembering where you parked and getting (everyone) back in the car,
    • driving back home,
    • (not to mention that you now have had everything out of proper temperature from the time you placed it in your cart until you get it all put away at home - which can mean some melted ice cream, chicken not properly chilled, and produce losing valuable nutrients),
    • schlepping everything into the house (often with a sleeping or crying wee one by this point),
    • and then unpacking it all and putting it all away!

Phew!  I'm tired just thinking about it.  But not anymore.  I love my new routine - click. click. click. - delivery - they help unpack - voila!

I heard you have a co-op too.  Can you tell me how I can become a member and what's the difference?

You can either order exactly what you want for delivery or pick up at our already discounted prices or you become part of our coop or you can do both.  The box is a balanced mix of fruits and vegetables and recipes are included.  We are getting rave reviews about our coop box and our group is growing each week!  Learn more about it by clicking here.

Co-op boxes are for pick up FRIDAY and now can be DELIVERED.  (Though, a nice little secret is that the Friday coop boxes that get picked up usually have some extras in there since we always like to empty our cooler out on Fridays.  So if we have extra berries or greens or sprouts or pretty much anything that looks lovely and arrived in fresh but we just didn't sell out of, we will usually add some into each box for pick up making it an even more amazing value!)  Preorder your box as per the delivery schedule or your pick up day.

When should I place my order for delivery or pick up?

We are a delivery service however if you'd like to pick up your order, please place your order by Friday 5am for pick up Friday 11:45am - 3:00pm. Please note that we are not a store and you cannot shop while picking up your order.

We deliver from Keys through Miami and Broward and to West Palm Beach. Our customers value their time as well as the quality of what they eat and use and prices; they tell us they save considerable dollars and time shopping with us.

Place your by the order deadline before your scheduled delivery.  You will get an email confirmation after your order is placed indicated that we received your order and your shopping cart will be empty.  If your shopping cart still shows items or if you do not get an email confirmation, we did not get your order.

If you forget to order something the first time, simply place another order and we'll put them together for you and delete duplicative delivery fees for the same delivery day.

Some people like to order a week in advance and that's fine, we do our best to accommodate your busy schedule, but some things that are available one week may not be available the next and we update the site constantly.  We get deliveries in pretty much every day and it varies what may be available one day to another (for example, on Monday we may not have Pineapples, but by Tuesday we may) so it's best for you to place your order two days before your delivery to see what we have available, the earlier in the day the better for us, but you have through midnight two nights before your scheduled delivery to place your order.

At times things will arrive to us in poor condition or won't get to us at all.  We update the site based upon what we order and what we believe will be in stock.  For the most part, we deliver out to you the same day we get our delivery.  When you think about it, by getting it the very same day, and since it's not out of refrigeration in displays like the grocery stores, and since people are not dropping and squeezing the produce all day, you are getting the very freshest and best quality!  Only hours (or just a few days) before it was still in the farm growing!  You will notice the quality is super fresh and has that "just picked" taste.  You will also notice it lasts longer (when properly stores, check our site for storage tips as you may be surprised to learn the best way to store your delicious organics!) than other produce, particularly organic produce.  But because we are relying upon our shipments to us for your delivery, at times we will not be able to fulfill your entire order.  We do our very best, but will not pack a piece of fruit or a vegetable that doesn't meet our standards.

How do I order?

Go to our online Shopping Cart and choose exactly the quantity or pounds you want.  Submit your order by 9pm before your scheduled delivery.  The total is an estimate as items listed per pound must be weighed and adjusted and we have to check quality before packing your items that day.  We recommend using Internet Explorer to place your order on our secure server as that browser will allow your cart to be saved (as long as you allow cookies) so you can start shopping one day and submit it another; however, you can place more than one order and we will put them together for you.

What if I don't have a computer or can't order online?  Can I call in an order?

We are a secure internet-based business and all orders must be placed online in order for us to create an invoice and keep the site updated with inventory.  However, due to requests we have started taking orders over the phone.  Your order must still be in by the order deadline for your pick up or delivery day.  Since an employee takes considerable time taking your order and inputting it into the computer for you, we do charge for this extra personalized service.  We take whatever time you need to answer your questions and help you select the items you need.  We will review all freshest produce, read labels, pull items, and assist you in choosing the best products for you.

How do I know how many to a pound or how much I might want?

We try and price everything out per item to make it easier for you to shop.  But some things (like hard squash which vary greatly in size) don't work well that way.  To make it easier, most items on the site can be purchased by the pound or by the piece.  When something is sold by the pound but you want a certain quantity, the web site will calculate the number as pounds in your estimated bill.  Remember, it is only an estimated bill.  We will then weigh those items and adjust the price accordingly.  It is also an estimated bill because something may not arrive as we expect so we will then remove that from your invoice.  We try to call or email the morning of if we didn't get something in stock to make sure you know so you can pick it up elsewhere or to see if an alternative may be substituted.  When there is something close, (like you order Green Leaf Lettuce and the Red Leaf looks better) we will make our best judgment for you based upon your habits with us and make the substitution.  You can always refuse anything upon delivery that does not meet your standards and you can refuse any substitutions.

We try and add information on the size to give you an idea, but if you're not sure, you can add in as much information in the comments section to help us choose your produce.  If you never want any substitutions, just mention that in the comments section and we'll never do that for you.  And you can always call us or send us a quick email if you have any questions or concerns.

We will do our best to package exactly what you want and the amount you would have picked from the store.  It helps to complete My Account so that we have some idea of how you shop or to add comments to help us do our best for you.

What if I need to add some things after I've placed my order?

If it's just one or two things, please email us at info@deliciousorganics.com and hopefully we'll get your email and add those things to your order.  To make sure we get your order, please place another one online as then it will be in queue and we won't miss it.  We need any additional items in by 5am the morning of your delivery as that's when we pull tickets and start our day.

I've never heard of some of these vegetables or fruits.  I might like to try them, but I don't know what they are or how to eat or prepare them.

The order form has links to many of the products (you will note those products are underlined with a quick link to that item) and a separate page will open with information.  Click on the link to learn more about any product, particularly fruits and vegetables.  We've worked hard to include descriptions, pictures, nutritional information, storage tips, and even recipe ideas!  If you're still concerned, make mention in the notes area and we'll be sure to include some recipes and menu ideas for you.  Oftentimes we'll do that anyway for "unusual" items and we'll include some storage tips on the bill itself, but if you make mention of a particular item, we'll be sure to go the extra step to help you out.  We want you to enjoy all the wonderful organic fruits and vegetables available to us!  We want you to try new things and explore the delicious world!

What if something arrives in bad condition?

We take pride in choosing the very best produce for you, but fruits and vegetables are not made on an assembly line and each one is unique.  Though uncommon, sometimes you may get an item that is bad.  If something doesn't meet your expectation, please refuse it upon delivery.  If you are not there when we deliver, please email or call us to let us know on the day of your delivery or by the next morning so that we can arrange to get it back from you and credit your invoice.  We only have a 24 hour window to return things for credit so we must ask that you be diligent in this as well.  Plus, if you let us know in a week that the berries were bad, we have no way of knowing if they arrived that way or if you mistakenly stored them incorrectly.  Please read the site for the best way to keep produce fresh as we cannot take responsibility if, for example, you wash your strawberries and then put them back in the refrigerator (never wash berries until you are ready to eat them!).  Also feel free to add any notes in the comments section when placing your order if you are particular about certain things (like if you want only unripe harder tomatoes.)  Your personal shopper is quite careful about choosing fruit and vegetables for you.  Then the packer double checks the quality once again.  Even with all our checks, mistakes can happen on occasion, though we generally catch them all which is why our customers are so resoundingly pleased with the overall quality!  If a fruit or vegetable arrives in bad condition by mistake, we will make good on that by either replacing the item the following week or issuing a credit for that item.  All items must be returned by the next week for credit no matter whether a frozen item, dry good, produce, dairy or other.   Like any store, we will need to get that item returned to us.  Generally, we try to be reasonable about this.  We go by the general rule that if the item is one you would have chosen for yourself in the store and then you bite into it and find it is not good, well, that happens at times with fruits and vegetables and we can't take responsibility for every defect of Mother Nature.  But if something arrives that you would not have chosen for yourself at the store, please let us know so that we may pick that up or ideally so the driver can take it back with him or her.

What if I ordered the wrong item or need to return something?

Sometimes mistakes happen.  We may pull the wrong item or you may click the wrong item.  Please review your email confirmation upon receipt so you can correct any changes before we pack your box of groceries.

You may refuse any produce that doesn't meet your standards upon delivery (see above), just return it to the driver, that's the easiest way to return something, but if you're not there to accept delivery and can't review it until later, please let us know by the next morning of any errors on your bill or in your delivery.

We don't usually resell anything that is returned so we have to follow strict guidelines on returns.  We can take returns on packaged items which are still closed and sealed (cookies, for example) and we may be able to take chicken, fish or meat back if it is kept frozen.  If you open a box and taste something and just don't like it, well, that happens, and we're sorry about that as we think most of our products are quite delicious, but we cannot take back opened items that you've tasted nor can we take back any item which may have been opened for health reasons.  Unfortunately, we cannot take returns on personal care items.

If you want to return an item, you must let us know by the day of delivery. We prefer you simply refuse and return the item to the driver if you are there for your delivery and notice it quickly enough; if not, you must email or call us with the item you will return and the reason and it must be returned by the next delivery or the next week whichever comes first. We cannot accept items for return months or weeks later. We always need to know the invoice number and the amount you paid and we will send you a credit toward your next order or will credit it off that invoice. Since it cost us money to pull and pack and delivery that item to you, we will charge a 10% restocking fee for all returns not our error.

If there is a problem with something, like you find it out of date and we missed that, we're happy to send you a credit voucher toward your next order or replace that item on your next order.  If we substitute something that you do not want, you may refuse/return it.  If you see an item and it doesn't meet your expectation, maybe the ingredients weren't listed on the site, you may refuse/return it.

You may be sent a credit for a future purchase or we may take the return off your current invoice.  We are reasonable with our restocking fee but we do find that it helps offset some of our costs and helps keep our prices down, which is good for you too.

Just like most any grocery store, we do need to take return of the item for credit no matter if bad condition, dated, the wrong item, or you simply changed your mind.  Please refuse and return it to the driver upon delivery or return it to the driver the following week as long as you received approval when you notified us the prior week that you would be returning the item and the reason.

We think our policy is reasonable and we strive to make sure that you are happy with our service and each product.

What do you do with any "leftover" produce or stuff that isn't good enough for deliveries?

We get produce deliveries in several times each week and most weeks daily.  Our goal is to sell out each day and offer the freshest produce to you each day.

Since produce isn't made in a factory and since we are quite picky about what we choose for our deliveries, we do have items that arrive with imperfections of nature including the way the fruit or vegetable formed on the tree, vine or in the ground, or a tiny bruise from the pressure of the other fruit.  These we put together in a splendid value called our "scratch and dent" box.  Nothing is old or moldy, just not as lovely as we choose for our regular deliveries so a great value of imperfect organic fruits and vegetables.

When we don't sell out of the imperfect produce or if something looks a little less than lively, we make regular donations to local groups including homeless shelters and food banks, so that they can use the items before they are past their prime.  We are proud to offer our community healthy organic fruits, meats, dairy and dry goods.  They have often commented that the items we donate far exceed the quality of any other donations of food.  We make regular donations of these items, usually twice a week, to make sure we only have fresh wonderful produce in store for you.

In addition to our regular donations to local service groups, we also at times offer these items to the hard working people who work with Delicious Organics.  We encourage our staff to choose organic and healthful options and offer imperfect produce at no charge in addition to offering a discount on everything in the store they wish to purchase as our way of thanking them for their hard work on your behalf.

How do I pay?  Do I pay online when I place the order?

We accept Cash, Check, Credit Card, and Money Orders.  Most of our customers pay by check or cash upon delivery or pick up.  (Don't forget the fine print.)

We are on a secure server.  If you want to pay by credit card, simply input your card before you submit your order online.  This will run an authorization only.  The authorization is based upon an amount over your estimated total.  Remember that the amount listed for your order is not the complete total but rather an estimated total.  Something may not be available when we pack your box, or an item might not have arrived in great condition.  We try to contact you the morning of your delivery about any unavailable items and possible replacements.  We will offer an alternative, and we'll adjust your bill accordingly.  We weigh and adjust the invoice for all "per lb" items.  If something is priced by the pound, like Hard Squash, for example, and you ask for one pound, we will give you as close to one pound as possible but sometimes the smallest one may be three pounds.  If you choose one "each" on a per lb item, we will need to adjust the weight and therefore the cost will either go up or down, depending upon the item and the weight of the item.  Therefore we won't know your total until we get our delivery of organic produce and pack your box that morning.

We may charge a refundable deposit for the cooler if we are not able to get return of our coolers and ice packs within two weeks.  We reuse them and simply prefer to pick them up on our your next delivery or the next delivery day for your area.

Unfortunately, the State of Florida explained that we did not get enough interest for payment by Food Stamps so we are not able to continue accepting them.

What if I'm not home for delivery and chose to pay by check?

Payment is expected upon delivery.  If you chose to pay by credit card, your card will be run for the exact amount of your invoice total after your delivery.  If you chose to pay by check, you may leave a check for our driver to pick up if you are not home.  Your total is updated the morning of your delivery so you can check online under Order History to get an updated total for your delivery.  If you prefer, you may mail payment within three days of your delivery.  If payment is not postmarked by the third day after your delivery, a $10 late fee will be added.  Please see further information for returned checks or payments moved to collections.

The driver unpacked it all for me!  Can I show my appreciation?  Is tipping allowed?

The people that work with us are extraordinary!  They go above and beyond and always try to make sure that you are pleased before they leave.  Our drivers work for hours in south Florida traffic.  They are paid by the hour but they are as efficient as possible.  They are hot and sometimes frustrated by the long drive and bumper to bumper traffic, but still manage a smile and will help you unpack your groceries and sometimes even help you put them away.  A tip is "to improve performance" and if you feel that the driver went above and beyond for you and you want to reward that performance, we will leave that to your discretion.  Sometimes it depends upon how far they have traveled, how many boxes they have carried in for you, and how far they had to carry them.  Drivers always greatly appreciate tips for their extra efforts.  Drivers do not expect tips but do appreciate them.  Our tipping policy is that it is up to your discretion based upon the circumstances, and between the marvelous person who is delivering your groceries to you and you.

What if I'm not home when you deliver?

Your groceries arrive in boxes or iced coolers.  If you are not home, we will leave your groceries at your door or whatever secure location you request us to leave them for you.  Any frozen or iced products (like milk, produce, fish, etc) will be in the cooler with enough ice packs or dry ice to keep them cool for several hours.  If you know you won't be home upon delivery we ask that you please let us how and where you'd like us to leave your groceries, if you'd like us to leave them with a neighbor or at your door and if we need to add extra ice if it will be more than a couple hours.

If you live in a building or in a community with security, please give us all the information we need to make your delivery.  We need to know how we can enter your building.  Please let the security know that we will be delivering so we don't wait at the gate being denied entrance.  If we arrive at your area and we are not allowed in to make our delivery, we must charge a $5 fee for that attempted delivery.  If we are forced to return with your delivery, you will be charged for your entire order.  If you want us to attempt delivery on a subsequent day, we will have to repull your order as if it was new.  If we have to wait more than a reasonable amount of time (more than 10 minutes) for you or someone to let us into the area, we will add on a fee of $10 per 1/2 hour.  Please help us make your delivery with ease so that we can avoid these fees.  We prefer to simply do the job you have asked us to do without any inconvenience in getting your items to you.  Please give us and security proper directions if you live in an apartment, condominium, or secure community.

We prefer to deliver directly to your door to make sure everything arrives in proper condition.  We like to know the items are in a secure location as well so if you are uncomfortable with us leaving the items at your door, you need to explain that to us so we can make arrangements to meet you at a time when you are home.  If we are not allowed access to your door, we will leave your groceries where we are told.  Once we confirm delivery, understandably, you take responsibility for the items.  We cannot be held responsible if your valet service drops or mishandles the items.  We cannot be held responsible if the items disappear from your front door.  Many of our customers are not home for delivery and we rarely have any issue with things going missing or being mishandled, however, it has happened so we have a policy that you take full responsibility once we confirm delivery is made.  You understand that you take responsibility for the cooler and the contents once delivery is made.

And what do I do with the cooler that you leave here?

If you are not home when we arrive, we will leave a cooler for you.  Please have the cooler available for us to pick up at your next delivery or the next time we are in your area making deliveries.  We ask that you make arrangements to have us pick up the cooler if you are not placing another order the following week or we may apply a $25 deposit for the return of the cooler.  If you don't return the cooler, you will be charged for a replacement.  We expect that the cooler is returned in good condition.  Please wipe out to cooler to make sure no food is left behind; if you don't wipe it out, the items left in it may mold or stain the cooler.  Please keep it open until it dries; if you close the lid on a wet cooler it will smell badly.  If the cooler is returned in unusable condition from not being wiped cleaned or being closed wet, we may charge you for a new cooler.  We have not yet had to charge for a new cooler, but we have received a stained and cooler and a smelly cooler so we have implemented this policy.  We'd like to keep our costs and services down so please return your coolers in good condition.

Is there a minimum for deliveries?

There is a minimum of ONLY $50 for all local south Florida deliveries within our delivery area  (but most of our customers take advantage of the delivery and easily exceed that minimum with our selection of over 9000 items!); you can pick up smaller orders.  There is a minimum of $40 for orders to be picked up.  Since we carry fish, chicken, meat, dry goods, cleaning products, toys, and so much more, we hope that you will reach the minimum easily and that we can help supply most of your weekly grocery needs.  We will work with you to get your order to you in a timely manner either via delivery or flexible pick up times at set locations or group drop offs.

Link here for our most up-to-date DELIVERY SCHEDULE.  Once you are scheduled on a route, you can expect delivery at about the same time each week.  We can leave your delivery at your door in a cooler if you're not there.  If you prefer a different time or day of the week, please let us know so that we can do our best to accommodate you.

We take delivery of produce and the rest of our stock throughout the week.  Our goal is to get the items to you as quickly after delivery to us so that we offer only the freshest produce to each and every customer!  You will notice the quality is super fresh and the fruits and vegetables have that "just picked" taste.

How do I get my produce? Do you deliver?

Yes, we deliver; we are a local delivery service in south Florida.  We are conveniently located off the highway in Miami

Is there a delivery fee?  What is the Delivery Charge?

The delivery fee is a flat rate $9.95 throughout our south Florida delivery area

Delivery Specials:  As our way of saying THANK YOU for your continued support, your next delivery fee is WAIVED when you recommend us to someone who places an order for delivery!  Thanks!!

Can I pick up instead?

We love to meet our customers in person and sometimes new people like to see our store to see how all this is done. You can pick up your order on FRIDAY. There is a $40 minimum for pick up orders. In the alternative you may take advantage of our delivery service. Our customers value their money and their time and we save you money in the delivery, we save you gas, and we save you time. See our delivery schedule.

Please note, that if you fail to pick up your order as scheduled, you will be charged the full amount of the order.  If you are delayed and call to tell us, we may charge you no less than $9.50 per half hour as we are paying overtime to hardworking employees who want to get home. It is your responsibility to pick up your order within the time we've agreed.  If you forget, we have still taken the time to pull and pack it and now must unpack and restock your order so you will be responsible for the full amount of the order total.

Uh-oh, I can't make it to pick up my scheduled order or I have to leave unexpectedly, how do I cancel my order or reschedule the delivery day or pick up day that I had chosen?

We understand that emergencies may occur time and again and you may need to change your pick up or delivery day.  If you need to change your delivery day or cancel your order, please call or email us to info@deliciousorganics.com by 2pm the day before your scheduled delivery or pick up.  We plan our incoming orders based upon your order and we take time to make sure your order is fulfilled properly.

If you do not cancel by 2pm the day before your scheduled delivery or pick up, you may be charged the full amount of your order or a restocking fee of no less than 10% of the total.  If you simply fail to show up to pick up your order, you will be charged the full amount of your order.

Where are you located?  Can I shop there?  Can I take a look around before I shop?

We are conveniently located off 826 and Red Road

Please understand, that we are not a store and are not set up like a store.  We are a delivery service.  Prices are all online and not on the products in our shop as we continually get in a new and fresh selection.  Prices are updated online so that's the best way to see what we have.  Plus, it's difficult to see all the delicious produce we have because we keep it in the cooler which is quite chilly.  There is no way to check you out; we do not have a cash register on premises nor do we have prices marked on any products. Unfortunately, because of how we are set up, it is difficult to shop and not easy to add on items once you are here.

If you want to visit us to check us out before you order, we can certainly schedule a time for you to stop by to meet us. Understandably, insurance will not allow you into the coolers or many "employee only" areas since they can be dangereous without proper footwear. You cannot make a purchase when you come to vo visit us so if you want to see what our produce and products look like, we suggest you get a delivery. That way you can really see how our service works and why the majority of our customers are regulars that shop with us each week and have for many years now. Order online. Get your delivery. Review it; you can always refuse anything that doesn't meet your standards.

See delivery schedule for most up-to-date days and times of deliveries for your area.

What if I want to pick out my own produce and go shopping in person?

We understand that it's hard to believe that we can choose better produce than you can find at the store but we are not a store, which is one of the reasons our produce is so much nicer, no one is dropping it before you pick it up. We are a delivery service. We are not a store for shopping. Please place an order for delivery to test us out.   We know you'll be pleased with the produce and service .  You can always refuse things upon delivery and help us provide the best produce for you with additional notes for your personal shopper in the comments section (for example: "please choose smallest zucchini; please choose ripe bananas") when you check out.

Can I pay by credit card online?  Can I pay by credit card at your store on Sunday when I shop or at the Farmer's Market?

Yes, you can pay by credit card online when you place your order.  We will simply run an authorization on your card at that time for an amount over the estimated total.  We will run your card for the exact amount of your invoice the day your delivery is made, picked up, or order is shipped.

Unfortunately, we have suspended our Sunday Farmer's Market and are closed on the weekends.

Is your site secure?  Isn't it safer to give you my card over the phone?

When a site is secure, it is always safer to input your own card online yourself over calling someone who will add it to your file.  Our site is secure.  You will note when you check out that the url changes to a secure socket layer in our checkout pages (https:// instead of http://) (the s stands for secure) and you will see a little lock in the lower right of your browser.  You will not see this while shopping, only once you are checking out and adding sensitive information.

Your credit card information is further secured by another layer.  Delicious Organics has partnered with Authorize.Net, a leading payment gateway since 1996, to offer safe and secure credit card and electronic check transactions for our customers.

The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway manages the complex routing of sensitive customer information through the credit card and electronic check processing networks (see an online payments diagram). The company adheres to strict industry standards for payment processing, including:

  • 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology for secure Internet Protocol (IP) transactions.

  • Industry leading encryption hardware and software methods and security protocols to protect customer information.

  • Compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

Our online shopping system, http://shop.deliciousorganics.com is registered with the Authorize.Net Verified Merchant Seal program.

What if a group of us want to share a delivery to one address?

The minimum is met if all orders combined reach the minimum for delivery to one location.  You can "share" a delivery charge if drop off is to one home or business in your area.  We will still pack your coolers separately so please place your orders separately.  We will divide the delivery fee for your convenience amongst the number of orders.  There is a per order $2.00 split fee for packaging each delivery box separately (for example, if 3 people want delivery to one address, there will be a split of that one fee among the three orders plus $2 added to each order)  because packaging takes quite a bit of time in choosing the best produce and packing them with care.  At no time will the delivery fee be less than $3.99 per person.

What if I can't meet the minimum one week and I still want the delivery?  Can I pay extra to get my delivery?

With the rising costs of gas and delivery, instead of raising our delivery fees or the costs of the products we offer, we are being firm on the minimum of $100 for delivery.  We came up with that minimum because we looked at the amount most of our regular customers spent with us.  Most of our weekly customers have no trouble reaching (actually most orders are well above ) the minimum since we have such a great assortment of items - over 5000 at last count!  However, we have had a few requests where the order didn't quite meet the minimum.  Therefore, all orders under $50 that are set for delivery in the south Florida area will be scheduled for pick up or will be canceled if you cannot pick up or you may place another order to reach the minimum.  All orders between $50 and $99 will incur a delivery surcharge of $5.  We would rather you simply meet the minimum and avoid that additional charge.  If you are close to the minimum, we will email you and ask that you place another order or add an item or two to reach the minimum so that you avoid this surcharge.

When can I pick up my order?  What are the hours for pick up?

See delivery schedule for most up-to-date pick up hours and days.  If you would like to pick up off this schedule, please ask and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

I live outside your delivery area, just outside of south Florida.  Any hope for me?

We may be able to accommodate deliveries outside of these areas, please make prior arrangements.  We will work hard to help you get organic produce at a reasonable price.  We want to make it available to everyone.  If you'd like to avoid the delivery fee, you can pick up instead.  Please see our  local delivery area and shipping information.

I live in another city completely.  I want delivery outside of south Florida.  Can I get it shipped?

We are beginning to ship now, mostly nonperishable items, and some frozen foods as well.  Please see our  local delivery area and shipping information.

How do you keep my frozen items frozen for delivery?  What if my frozen items arrive partially thawed; can I refreeze them?

We ship and deliver all frozen items on dry ice.  This keeps everything quite cold and in most cases frozen solid.  If you are having a local delivery in south Florida and have ordered frozen items but are not home for your delivery, we will add some dry ice to your cooler(s) to keep those items cold enough until you arrive home.  Normally you will find that even if you arrive late, we have several customers that don't get home until well after 6pm, the frozen items will still be frozen.

However, since fish is thinner it can, on rare occasion, thaw ever so slightly when you open your cooler.  According to Vital Choice, if your fish is partially thawed but still quite cold, you can safely return it to a frozen state with no perceptible loss of quality.  The key to the preservation of both the quality and nutritional value of the Vital Choice fish and salmon is in the vacuum sealed pouch. This vacuum prevents the loss of nutrients and moisture from the salmon.

If you ordered frozen items for shipping outside of our local delivery area, we will put that entire cooler on dry ice to make sure those things arrive to you in good condition.  Dry ice will begin to  evaporate in transit.  Usually items arrive frozen solid as we always meet the specifications indicated for the quantity of dry ice to keep your items frozen for that length of travel to you.

What is dry ice?

Caution: Keep Dry Ice away from children if they cannot be closely supervised at all times.

Dry Ice is frozen carbon dioxide, a normal part of our earth's atmosphere. It is the gas that we exhale during breathing and the gas that plants use in photosynthesis. It is also the same gas commonly added to water to make soda water. Dry Ice temperature is extremely cold at -109.3°F or -78.5°C.   We always pack enough dry ice to keep your frozen items frozen while in transit to you.  The dry ice will evaporate during travel, this is normal, and you may have none left upon receipt of your items or you may have some dry ice left yet in the cooler.  Items will still be cold and most, if not all, should be very cold and  frozen.

HANDLING DRY ICE
Do not remove the dry ice from the packaging in which it is encased.
Always handle Dry Ice with care and wear protective cloth or leather gloves whenever touching it. An oven mitt or towel will work. If touched briefly it is harmless, but prolonged contact with the skin will freeze cells and cause injury similar to a burn.

BURN TREATMENT
Treat Dry Ice burns the same as a regular heat burns. See a doctor if the skin blisters or comes off. Otherwise if only red it will heal in time as any other burn. Apply antibiotic ointment to prevent infection and bandage only if the burned skin area needs to be protected.

COUNTERTOPS
Do not leave Dry Ice on a tiled or solid surface countertop as the extreme cold could crack them.

DISPOSAL
Open the package and leave it at room temperature in a well-ventilated area.  Do not put it in your freezer and try to freeze it.  Do not put it in your sink and open the faucet on it.

In Florida we recommend you take the package of dry ice, open it outside and leave it outside in a safe place away from children. It will sublimate from a solid to a gas.

Information adopted from www.dryiceinfo.com

We will not be held liable for any burns or misuse of dry ice or accidents that occur with children and dry ice.  We caution you to please be aware that dry ice is included in frozen deliveries and some will be left with your frozen items when we leave your cooler for you, when you are not able to accept delivery and allow our drivers to unpack the order for you, and dispose of it safely.

What do other people think about your service and about the quality of the products?  Do you have any testimonials so I can be sure?

Our customer base is mostly repeat customers and we think that speaks worlds for us!  Every time we are tired from a long day, we get a glowing testimonial that puts a smile on our face and makes our push to do this continue.  See our Testimonials and hear about us from people who have chosen to order with us.  We list testimonials for the products we carry on some product pages.  Look toward the bottom of the page.  For example, see our chocolates

Are there membership fees?

No.  You can order from the shopping cart at any time.  Produce prices change weekly and any savings we get are passed along to you.

What's the Standing Order on the Milk?

We offer low temperature short time pasteurized milk instead of the high temperature long time pasteurized milk available in most stores.  We also offer raw milk, for sale for pet consumption only as per Florida Law.  Since the milk is not high pasteurized, and therefore doesn't have a shelf life of a month like the standard milk, we order that in limited supply.  To guarantee that you will get your milk, we strongly advise you place a standing order so that we hold the quantity you want until you order it for delivery.  You can easily cancel the standing order by emailing us at least the week before your scheduled delivery.

Why did the price change?

Pricing and availability of produce from the distributors change daily. Produce is seasonal.  We make every effort to keep our purchasing list current but because we may not order the exact day you see the list, please understand that there may be some fluctuation. We do this to keep our prices down instead of charging high margins to cover changes.  Generally, we do not change prices on items unless there is a pretty significant change one way or the other.

But I saw broccoli was cheaper at the store?

On average you will always find our prices are lower than retail.  We are about 20% less on produce, AND our produce is much fresher!  We are about 10% below retail on other items.

On occasion you may find items at the regular grocery store for less.  Of course their buying power is much greater and their mark up is much higher than ours.  Larger stores get huge discounts for their volume bulk orders.  But then they mark up much more than our small percentage.  Every time we've compared prices, we've always shown a significant cost savings overall (not to mention the time and gas money saved in having your items delivered to you) over shopping in the local grocery stores.

Stores notoriously lose money on one popular item to draw us customers in because they will more than make up for it on everything else we buy as we end up at the check out counter with far more than we had anticipated purchasing.

Our goal is to always provide better quality, better selection, better service, and the freshest organic produce and more, at very fair prices. With shopping online, you choose exactly what you want in the comfort of your own home so you can be true to your budget and your shopping list.  Many of our customers have told us they SAVE money buying Delicious Organics produce, even over conventional produce!  This is because:

This saves you time, money, and frustration of grocery shopping in driving to the store, finding a parking space, shopping and sorting through all the fruit and vegetables that others have already sorted through, reading all the labels (whilst a child or fussy companion is getting cranky), impulse buys and "on sale" items that you didn't really need or want but somehow find themselves in your cart (sometimes simply to pacify your shopping buddy), inevitably choosing the wrong (longer) line, remembering where you parked and getting (everyone) back in the car, driving back home, (not to mention that you now have had everything out of proper temperature from the time you placed it in your cart until you get it all put away at home - which can mean some melted ice cream, chicken not properly chilled, and produce losing valuable nutrients), schlepping everything into the house (often with a sleeping or crying wee one by this point), and then unpacking it all and putting it all away!  Phew!  I'm tired just thinking about it.  But not anymore.  I love my new routine - click. click. click. - delivery - voila!

However, on the rare occasion that you find the broccoli, for example, is less at the local store, we appreciate you letting us know and asking us about it.  It's important we look at brand and compare quality.  You help us by letting us know about where we may be a little higher than the stores so that we can work with our suppliers to bring our prices down on that particular item.

As we grow we will be able to get things at bigger discounts and we will continue to share the savings with you.  Thank you for spreading the word about Delicious Organics.

Why didn't I get everything I ordered?

We do our best to fill every order.  We actually do a really good job of fulfilling most orders.  We list items on the site when we order them, not after we take delivery (because by then they would be old by the time you get them) but instead when we place our order for those items.  We list them because we expect them to arrive, and we expect that the items will arrive in great condition.  Quality is paramount to us.  Please understand that there may be times when the item received is not as we expected.  We will not include something if it doesn't meet our standards of quality because you are relying upon us to choose the best for you.  We do keep the site as up-to-date as possible with out of stocks.  If we don't have something, we will try to contact you to suggest a comparable product.  If we don't reach you, or if there is something of equal or better quality (for example, you ordered baby romaine but the mixed greens looked much better), we will make the substitution for you and add notes to your invoice to explain why.  As your personal shopper, we pick out the items you choose like we are shopping for our own family or a fancy dinner party; we choose the best for you.  So, while we are usually really good about fulfilling orders, there may be times when something is not available (didn't arrive to us even though we ordered it, or didn't arrive in great condition) and at those times we may not be able to fill your order or we may make substitutions.  You an always refuse something upon delivery and of course you can refuse a substitution.  We do our best for you.

If you are looking for something in particular and don't see it, please let us know and we'll make every effort to get it and stock it for you!

What are your business principles and what do you base your business decisions on?

While some conventional businesses are purely profit driven, we are very balanced between profit, people, and planet.  We always keep each of these important goals in mind when making our business decisions.  We passionately care about life.  Delicious Organics helps make your life healthier and easier today for a longer, healthier life tomorrow.  Our goal is a planet that is healthy and sustainable.

When we choose to offer a product, we think of a specific customer who has a need for or has requested an item like that.  We think of the way this item will make her life easier.  We look at the company creating this product and make sure they share our vision and commitment to our future and our people.  We look to see that this product can and is being created in a sustainable way so that the resource will not be depleted for future generations.

It's true, it's not easy being Green.  We are committed to reducing our footprint.  We go a step further and share what we learn to make it easier for you to go green too!

What are you doing to reduce carbon emissions?

One of the reasons we became seriously interested in organics is the information we learned about climate control.  We are committed to creating a simpler, more fulfilled, healthier and longer life for our customers, ourselves, the people who work the farms, the people from whom we buy product and services, and our hard working staff.  We are committed to making our collective future better for us, the animals that share our planet, our children, and children's children.  We created the tag line on our logo since our inception:  We do it for our our health, our children, our environment, and our future.  We share your concern for the environment and our future.

We work hard to reduce our footprint and help you strive to be carbon neutral.  We educate.  We offer information and simple steps we can all do to reduce our emissions.

We are honored to feed you and your family and are proud of our part to promote green livingWe offer organics because they are better for our future, our bodies, and our children.  Choosing organic products is a green thing to do for the planet.   Petroleum is heavily used in the creating, transporting, and disbursing of pesticides with conventional crops.  We always choose local organics first and then as close to home as possible.

We reduce, reuse and recycle.  We use 100% recycled paper; we reuse boxes coolers, ice packs, and packing materials. We used to reuse water bottles (so please send us empty Fiji water bottles) as ice packs but have moved to reusable big ice packs.  We recycle our cardboard, (so please return the boxes you get your groceries in), plastic, paper, glass, and aluminum. We reduce packaging whenever possible and use biodegradable containers for most repacking.  We are an online service and do not have a print catalogue to further reduce paper.  We have very little print literature and do not blanket neighborhoods with flyers.

We do not use plastic bags unless YOU want us to do us.  We are moving away from plastic bags for our deliveries of frozen foods. We have decided to only use them if you are not home for your delivery but you can help even more by simply leaving some bags or your own cooler outside your door.  Frozen foods will then be added to one of our coolers or one that you leave with dry ice to keep them frozen solid until you return home.

We turn off our computer screens when we leave our desk.  We turn off our computers when not in use.  We turn off lights when we leave the room and are done for the day.  We unplug equipment not in use.

We seek out and find products that help you make a difference in our planet too including CFL light bulbs and non-chlorine bleach.  We are committed to a sustainable planet and a future for our children to enjoy.

And we've only just begun as we continue to strive to do more.  We are also making strides to convert and acquire vehicles that run on bio-diesel.  We are investigating other ways to offset carbon emissions personally and professionally.  We are investing in alternate ways to power our facility and ways to offset the electricity used including wind-power and solar energy.  We want to offset the carbon emissions of every order so that your order will be carbon neutral.

Love the logo, who designed it?

Tenengo created the groovy logo and were a pleasure to work with:  http://www.tenengo.com

Who uses this service?  Who are some of your members/customers?

Working moms who want the very best for their families, busy parents who want the best organic produce delivered to their door, gourmet and budding chefs who are looking for a better selection of the finest fresh organic produce, juicers who need a good supply of fresh organic produce, raw foodists who eat only the very best because they know that "you are what you eat" is true, people who want to eat organic foods but don't have the selection in their stores nor the time to search at many stores for what they need, personal trainers, attorneys, holistic healers, nutritionists, doctors, acupuncturists, people looking to save money on organic produce, people who want to learn about new fruits and vegetables and want to cook or use them but aren't sure how (the web site offers ideas and suggestions, pictures and information), students who love our selection and prices, people who have healed themselves from cancer or other disease with good organic produce and therefore understand the power of food, people who eat fast food and want to balance their life with nutritious foods, people who have made a decision to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet and eat healthier, and even people just wanting to eat food that is simply delicious are a big part of Delicious Organics.  And growing.

Okay, this is all well and good, but I don't really plan meals.  I have no idea what produce I'm going to buy, well other than bananas, until I get to the store and see it.  It really depends upon what they have and what it looks like.  And I'm not sure that organics are all that important, quality is really key to me.

We understand that.  Like you, we may have an idea of what we want to get, but until we actually get to the store or our list of what we can choose, we don't know for sure what we'll be cooking for dinner or buying for you to consider.  Like you, the selection and quality, as well as the price, determine our menu.

Now, imagine Delicious Organics as your grocery store.  You are the first one in and everything is super fresh and looks beautiful.  Everything is priced reasonably for the season.  Shop the produce section and you'll see a huge selection of every day items like bananas and onions, as well as some fruits and vegetables that you may have never seen before.  All in perfect rows that no on has dropped or squeezed.  Your biggest challenge is to figure out what you DON'T want because the selection and quality are THAT good.  Now, normally you'd go for the same items, but right next to the Broccoli is the Purple Cauliflower that looks so intriguing.  And there is a tip on the nutritional benefits as well as information on how to prepare it so you decide to put it in your cart.  You get a couple more things, careful to put the heavier items on the bottom so you don't bruise the sweet Strawberries.  When you check out, someone packs your bag with that same care.  And delivers it into your home!

So really, it's the same, you don't know what you'll make for the meals until you get there.  You get there and see that the selection and quality is great.  You figure out what you'll be making for dinner after your shopping trip.  And you have time to peruse new recipes and actually plan your menu since we'll do the driving and lugging for you.

By Placing an order I AGREE to

By placing an order, I agree to pay Delicious Organics for that order the total of the invoice as updated on my delivery or pick up day.
